I originally wanted to be a teacher. That had been the dream since I was little. I went from teaching my teddies in my bedroom to collecting my teaching degree in 2018. At this point I was a little stuck in life. After the effects of social media I was always looking for something more and something better. So one day I decided to pack my bags and go.
Off to Vietnam I went. . .
Excited to see what life has for me. I started teaching English in a centre and after 1 month I became Head Teacher.
Life was Great!! I was good friends with a guy called Joe and he loved graphic design. So as the power team, I wrote the curriculums, and he designed all the content as well as all the marketing content too. We had made a very successful English learning centre. He then went on to follow his dream in Graphic Design and I stayed on building my centre. But little did I know the events that were to follow.
My world soon came crashing down realising how different Western countries were compared to Vietnam. Because of Joe I felt respected in my position however it was just because a male was standing by my side.
After the tragic events that followed, I had to return home. Feeling very weak as a woman and shocked on how easy it is to have all your rights and power to be taken away, I returned to my Cafe job. Traumatised by what I had experienced I slowly became very ill and had to give up my Cafe job. Spending many days lying in bed and crying I only felt comfort in painting and jigsaws. I started to get help. And through this I started to look at the good from Vietnam and learnt how to value myself.
So, after many months of feeling lost and hurt I remembered how I felt when Joe and I were working together, making a really successful product. This started my curiosity into design. Looking through many options and trying some of them. I stumbled across a Web Development and Design course. As you can see. And this is where it has brought me. After an incredibly challenging year through combining my love of arts, design and working with others I’m NOW taking my shot to follow my new dream…
